I’m Tired of Fire

There.
I said it.
I’m tired of fire.

Like the fiery furnace
consumes anyone who gets close
kind of fire.

I know it has its purpose
to grow faith
inspire compassion
build strength.

I get it’s part of the journey
it doesn’t squash my hope
steal joy
or change my bent toward gratitude.

Some days it just
makes me want to
say out loud
I’m tired of fire!

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your soul is say out loud exactly how you feel.

Say it to your closest friend
write it on a post-it note
yell it if that helps.

There’s nothing sin-full or faith-less about being truthful with yourself about emotions. God’s not taking notes on how we feel or giving grades on how well we hide what’s on the inside. You won’t find pity or condemnation in God’s eyes. Nor will you receive a five-step hack to feel better.

What I believe you might find
at least it’s what I’ve found
is

the space to
be-hold and be-held
in the midst and mystery
of it all.

Super good! as usual. And you do have a reason to be tired of fire. I admire your ability to stand up and tell satan “enough”. I know you will stay strong through all of this,
