Wake Up!
open your eyes
breathe in goodness
sing songs of praise.
pause… open your eyes… notice something beautiful and good… give thanks and praise
Rise Up!
shake off your chains
breathe in forgiveness
sing songs of grace.

pause… let go… accept forgiveness… give forgiveness… feel the grace

Stand Up!
take your holy place
breathe in redemption
sing songs of peace.
pause… feel the solid foundation under your feet… embrace redemption… take in peace
Open eyes wide
shake off the chains
take a seat at the table
satisfied in his name.

Amen.
Most mornings you’ll find me at the dining room table, sipping coffee and praying God will help me be aware of his presence. I listen. I breathe. I wait. As my mind settles I am drawn to the words of Isaiah 52. The prophet began with a “wake-up” call that inspired this prayer.
Because there are times I need to be reminded to
wake up,
stay alert,
stand in the watchtower.
Perhaps you are sensing God’s call to live wide awake in your own life. If so, this prayer is for you. Might I suggest you begin the day with this prayerful meditation on what it means to wake up.
Wake up, wake up, O Zion!
Clothe yourself with strength.
Put on your beautiful clothes, O holy city of Jerusalem,
for unclean and godless people will enter your gates no longer.
Rise from the dust, O Jerusalem.
Sit in a place of honor.
Remove the chains of slavery from your neck,
O captive daughter of Zion.
For this is what the Lord says:
“When I sold you into exile,
I received no payment.
Now I can redeem you
without having to pay for you.”
Isaiah 52:1-3 NLT
