Wilderness Confession

,

We sit and wait while the one explaining the scan consults with another specialist. I silently pray, Lord, I need some direction here.

God’s response was quick and to the point, I brought you to this place and this doctor. Why are you questioning it now?

I could give excuses about why I questioned this expert’s opinion. I have a list of reasons why I am not confident this is where we are supposed to be. But the bottom line is I didn’t get the answer I wanted. I wanted a “Everything is clear. I’ll see you in three months” answer. I wanted to hear “this wilderness has come to a close, and you can return to your normal life”.

I didn’t get what I wanted. And frankly, I had a bad attitude about it.

I remember God’s response to Job.

“Who is this that obscures my plans
    with words without knowledge?
Brace yourself like a man;
    I will question you,
    and you shall answer me.

“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
    Tell me, if you understand.
Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?

On what were its footings set,
    or who laid its cornerstone—
while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?

Job 38:2-7 NIV

How quickly I’ve forgotten God’s provision and faithfulness in this wilderness season. All the answered prayers, miraculous interventions, and daily care has somehow slipped my mind.

I’m humbled.

I’m convicted.

I confess. Lord… forgive me. You are right, and I am not.

The doctor returns to continue his explanation, and something in me shifts. When he says we still need to wait for one more test, all my doubt fades away. It seems I needed an attitude adjustment.

A reminder that no matter the path ahead, God is ordering every step.

The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives.
Though they stumble, they will never fall,
for the Lord holds them by the hand.

Psalm 37:23-24 NLT
