Tips for Wilderness Travel

,

My hubby and I travel differently.
I’m a go with the flow,
enjoy the journey,
never look at my watch kind of girl.

He’s a know where you are going,
take minimal stops,
make good time sort of guy.

For me, taking a wrong turn leads to an adventure.
For him, it means you now have to make up the time.

Today inspires me to share a few tips I’m learning in my wilderness travels.

  1. Even if you can go with the flow, the direction of the flow doesn’t take you where you want to go.
  2. You may not enjoy the journey, but practicing gratitude is an essential skill.
  3. There’s no reason to look at your watch. Time does not belong to you.
  4. Knowing where you are going doesn’t mean you’ll get there.
  5. Stops are inevitable. Pause… breathe… release your expectations.
  6. Wilderness travel is a faith-building adventure that doesn’t fall into the fun category.
  7. No matter how much you hurry, you won’t get there any quicker.

Most importantly, don’t travel alone. Reach out to those who love you. Share your heart. Vent if you need to. Accept the help they offer. This will carry you through.

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
