Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, “You are the God who sees me.”
Genesis 16:13 NLT
I see you
struggling to anchor
yourself in the midst
of an unfamiliar world
spinning out of control.
I see you
lying there
in a foreign land
listening to the machine
take breath after breath.
I see you
watching lines
rise and fall
finding comfort
a heart still beats.
I see you
momma
crushed under the weight
praying, begging, pleading
sweet child of mine, awake.
I see you
daughter
traveling all the miles
to be by her side
when a final breath she takes.
I see you
brother
pacing back and forth
tears falling, mind reeling
bargaining for one more day.
I see you.
terrified.
hopeless.
filled with sorrow.
weary and worn.
ICU
dear child of mine
do not forget
nor doubt what’s true
always, in all ways
I see you.
Oh friends, family, those we don’t even know:
If you whispered a prayer for us over the last few weeks, it matters.
Your prayers have held us close,
shored us up,
and kept us taking step after step.
With my whole heart I say thank you.
And humbly ask you to keep praying…
for us…
for those in the rooms surrounding us…
for those in ICU’s all over the world...
Thank you.
