lighting the way
for wise ones to come
worship and praise.

Telling the truth
to the world he has made
there in the beginning
coming to save.

All children of God
not born of this place
the Word is now flesh

In children, in loved ones, in soft candle flames

Receive grace and truth
on this very day
his star shining bright
will show you the way.

In the beginning the Word already existed.
    The Word was with God,
    and the Word was God.
He existed in the beginning with God.
God created everything through him,
    and nothing was created except through him.
The Word gave life to everything that was created,
    and his life brought light to everyone.
The light shines in the darkness,
    and the darkness can never extinguish it.
